Annual Projects

  • “Book in one day” project 

Year: 2006, 2007

Description of the Activity:  “Book in 1 day” project, invited by Loesje International on 3rd of May 2006, 2007 on the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day celebrated in the Entire world we have organized in Yerevan a creativity workshop for youngsters eager to practice techniques of creative writing and to express themselves freely on freedom of speech. 

  • “Educational tool: Tail and game therapies” Seminars 

Year: 2006

Description of the Activity: WIYU in cooperation with ACCELS, conducts series of “Educational tool: Tail and game therapies” seminars for students of Yerevan Pedagogical university. The main goal of the seminars is to deliver information concerning last developments of tail therapy and game therapy, practice used in Armenia. Seminar facilitators describe an educational framework for method selection, creation and adaptation. 

  • “European Citizenship” Training Courses 

Year: Annual (2003-present)

Description of the Activity:  Every year WIYU, in cooperation with 5 secondary schools of Yerevan conducts series of “European Citizenship” training courses for students and teachers of civic education. The learning objective is to develop a sense of space and place in contemporary Europe, the skills required to be active agents for change and development, and the knowledge required to make informed choices within this context.

  • Christmas Party for disabled children 

Year: Annual

Description of the Activity: Starting 2001 WIYU members have been actively involved in making holiday celebrations for disabled children. Members of the organization prepare presents and a party for 50-70 disabled children. Members of the organization and our partner organizations facilitate various interactive, creative games, dances, competitions of drawings. The projects develop responsibility of NGO participants and promote their civic participation.   

  • “Career development” Serious of  Seminars

 Year: Annual

Description of the Activity:  The goal of seminars is to provide young people with skills and techniques necessary for conquering a place in today’s labor market. During the seminar participants acquire theoretical knowledge and useful tips on successful interview, resume/CV/cover letter writing. 

  • ” Youth Participation Intercultural Learning” Training Courses 

Year: Annual (2005-present)

Description of the Activity:  Every year WIYU, in cooperation with International Centre for Intercultural Research, Learning and Dialogue conducts training courses to support and promote youth participation in Youth in Action youth exchange projects; to reflect on the manifestations and relevance of issues such as identity, nationalism, Europe.  

  • YOUTH Programme” information campaign  

Year: Annual (2004-2006)

Description of the Activity: The National Information Campaign started in Armenia on April, 2004 with the National Pool of Trainers of Armenia where we had a seminar on the YOUTH Programme. Also we have distributed the brochures that we have designed for the campaign, provided information about the initiatives in the framework of the Programme and links to proper web sites. 

  • “Youth in Action” information campaign  

Year: Annual (2007-present)

Description of the Activity: During the year WIYU is organizing informational seminars, sessions, personal consultations for young people from Yerevan and different regions of Armenia who are interested in organization and participation in activities in frame of Youth in Action. Youth workers, leaders and young people receive relevant materials and information.

Accomplished Projects

  • Courses of English Language and American Culture

 

Year: 2001; 2006

Description of the Activity:  The courses of English Language and American Culture were conducted for young people in cooperation with English Language Teachers Association (ELTA).

  • Global Youth Service Day

 

Year: 2001 – 2003

Description of the Activity:  In the framework of the GYSD annually were implemented 6-8 projects: seminars, public discussions, presentations. The volunteers were providing also public cervices to the vulnerable groups of the society. There were organized clinging of public parks, as well as visits to orphanage and old people’s houses. Projects were organized either in Yerevan, or in regions in cooperation with local NGOs.

  • “World Fairy-Tails” TV programs

 

Year: 2006

Description of the Activity:  WIYU in cooperation with Shokhakat TV channel prepared 10 TV programs on fairy-tails of the national minorities of Armenia. Programs were broadcasted at the beginning of 2007. The project was recognized as winner in compaction organized by UNESCO.  

  •  “Cultural Diversity and Minority Youth Participation” CMS

 

Date and place: 22-27 May 2006, Coventry, UK

Description of the Activity: The main aim of the project was creating new partnership and working on new projects together.

  • “Encouraging cross-border communication through ICL” TC

 

Date and place: 04-11 August 2006, Narva-Jõesuu, Estonia

Description of the Activity: The aim of the course was to support the youth workers and youth leaders from the Programme countries in extending their competencies to integrate ICL tool within their projects and practice.

  • “From diversity to common understanding in Europe” Youth Exchange  

 

Date and place: 14-23 August 2006, Lusakert, Armenia  

Description of the Activity: The idea was to bring young people from different European cultural and historical backgrounds and to organize a dialogue through sharing their national traditions and to create an opportunity to investigate each other’s cultural patterns through this dialogue as well as try to find out connections between these cultures.

Role of WIYU: WIYU in cooperation with Academic Center of European Integration and Education of Warsaw University (Poland) hosted Youth Exchange for 24 participants from Poland, Germany, Georgia and Armenia.  

  • §         “Europe is for us – are we for Europe?” TC

 

Date and place: 18-23 October 2006, Kraków, Poland

Description of the Activity: The main aim of training course was to build up a common understanding and international youth work strategy in the context of European Citizenship.

  • “European Solidarity in the framework of development” TC

 

Date and place: 22 – 28 October 2006, Chisinau, Moldova

Description of the Activity: With organizing this training the organizers want to give an opportunity to NGO from Europe and from the former Soviet republics to share their experiences and gain knowledge about youth projects management as well as to establish new contacts and develop common project ideas in the field of the program Youth.

  • “Vilnius Orphan House N 3 European Volunteer Service

 

Year: 2006-2007, Vilnius, Lithuania (number of volunteers 1)   

Description of the Activity: To increase intercultural learning experience for young people encouraging their social integration, active participation, increasing their employability and giving them opportunities to show solidarity with other people.

Role of WIYU: WIYU in cooperation with coordinating NGO Austejos draugai sent 1 volunteer 

  • “Youth across Europe – New partnerships for a common future” CMS

Date and place: 12-17 December 2006, Tbilisi, Georgia

Description of the Activity:  The Contact Making Seminar (CMS) “Youth across Europe – New partnerships for a common future” was organized for potential partners from YOUTH Program countries and Eastern Europe and Caucasus countries. The Contact Making seminar was aimed to enhance the cooperation between organizations from EECA and Program countries, and to create projects within Action 1, Action 2 and Action 5.

  • “Feasibility Study Action 5” Feasibility visit 

 

Date and place: 20-23 January 2007, Marseille, France

Description of the Activity:  The object of the feasibility visit was to bring together project managers to discuss the preparation of a subsequent seminar. The theme and program of the feasibility visit was centered on the development of youth projects for which teaching tools and methods should be implemented so as to promote inter-cultural education and civic training aimed at young people.

  • “Open border Open mind” Youth Exchange  

 

Date and place: 7-15 July 2007, Lviv, Ukraine  

Description of the Activity: The aim of the exchange was to bring young people together and to make them aware of the many possibilities available from cooperation on national and international levels. It improved international relations between young people and let them explore and create an understanding of each other’s cultures. This gave the participants an insight in the world and lives of young people from other countries, cultures and backgrounds.

Role of WIYU: Group of 7 people from WIYU took part in the YE

  • “Culture and Arts for Peace, Understanding and Friendship in Europe” Youth Exchange

 

Date and place: 05 – 12 August 2007, Lusakert, Armenia  

Description of the Activity:  The aim of the exchange is to value cultural diversity in today’s Europe and awareness of this fact amongst young people, which can effectively contribute to process of intercultural understanding and break stereotypes and prejudices which must lead the participants to the idea of peace and friendship.

Role of WIYU: WIYU in cooperation with YWCA/YMCA of Latvia (Latvia) hosted Youth Exchange for 36 participants from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Moldova, Georgia and Armenia

  • Study visit in Georgia Study visit

Date and place: 24-31 August 2007, Tbilisi, Georgia

Description of the Activity:  The idea of the project was to discover the reality of the participating countries in order to create partnerships which could lead to the organization of future youth exchanges in the frame of the European program Youth in Action.

  • “Wedding Traditions” Youth Exchange

 

Date and place: 04-13 September 2007, Lusakert, Armenia  

Description of the Activity:  The project “Wedding Traditions” is a Youth exchange project in Armenia where the participants from EU and Partner countries will have possibility to meet and discuss topics related to cultures, wedding traditions (how they were in past, what do we have in our days and to what will bring tendencies in future).

Role of WIYU: WIYU in cooperation with Minorities of Europe (UK) hosted Youth Exchange for 30 participants from UK, Italy, Estonia, Moldova, Ukraine and Armenia 

  • “Preventing Policy: Trafficking”  Seminar

Date and place: 05-06 September 2007, Yerevan, Armenia   

Description of the Activity: WIYU by financial support of Council of Europe organized seminar the aim of witch was to develop human rights education as an effective powerful tool for youth trafficking prevention and motivate participants to become committed activists to stop Human Trafficking.

  • “LTTC on HRE with Young People in Armenia”

Date and place: 10-14 September 2007, Vanadzor, Armenia

Description of the Activity: The aim of the TC was:

  • To inform, motivate and enable participants to develop human rights education activities
  • To define the role of human rights education for young people and those working with young people
  • To familiarize the participants with the approaches and activities of COMPASS and with how best to use it and adapt it to local contexts and realities.

In organization and legalization of LTTC were involved following local NGO World Independent Youth Union, Armenian Constitutional Right-Protective Centre (ACRPC), Youth Center for Democratic Initiatives NGO, NCC-Armenia for ADAE Campaign, Active Youth Citizens Initiative and National Pool. of Trainers. The LTTC was realized by financial support of Council of Europe.  

Role of WIYU: WIYU was one of the co-organizers/partners of the LTTC. One of the trainers from WIYU was involved in trainers’ team
  • “Crimea the Land of Cultural Diversity” Youth Exchange

Date and place: 19-27 September 2007, Alushta, Crimea

Description of the Activity:  The exchange will be focus on the values of cultural diversity and the changing reality of immigration/emigration and minority communities in XXIst century Europe.

Role of WIYU: 4 members of WIYU took part in the YE 

  • “Cooperation with the limits of Europe” CMS

Date and place: 25-30 September, Santiago de Compostela, Galicia, Spain

Description of the Activity:  The main aim was to connect youth NGOs from EU and the EECA. To star to work together within projects in frame of YiA and to create a network to work in the field of youth cooperation, youth information and all the fields that are interesting for young people from participating countries.

  • “On the crossroads of culture and religions” Youth Exchange

Date and place: 27 September-08 October 2007, Lviv, Ukraine

Description of the Activity:  The project is aimed to give young people from Poland, United Kingdom, Slovakia, Ukraine, Georgia and Armenia the opportunity to become acquainted with each other languages, cultures and religions. 

Role of WIYU: Group of 5 people from WIYU took part in the YE

  • “Building Bridges between East and West – MOLDOVA!” Youth Exchange

Date and place: 15-23 October 2007, Chisinau, Moldova

Description of the Activity:  Building Bridges from West to East is an active citizenship exchange project that aims to bring together young people from 8 partner organizations for the promotion of their achievements, reducing the sense of alienation and empowering them with the skills to recognize that they can be active agents of change.

  • “Co-operation for Future !” European Volunteer Service

Date and place: 2007-2008, Yerevan, Armenia (number of volunteers 1)   

Description of the Activity: The volunteer’s tasks are:

  • Facilitation of the debating club (in its preparation, implementation and evaluation)
  • Support in organization and realization of youth exchanges and training courses
  • support to working groups (collecting and editing information)
  • Help with children group

Role of WIYU: WIYU in cooperation with Akzente Salzburg (Austria) is hosting an EVS volunteer

  • “Children are our future” European Volunteer Service (number of volunteers 2)

Description of the Activity: The volunteers’ tasks are:

  • Working with disabled children (painting, ceramic and swimming classes, support n hors riding classes)  
  • Assisting to office work

Role of WIYU: WIYU in cooperation with Servicio de Juventud de Ayuntamiento de Avilés (Spain) is hosting 2 EVS volunteers

  • “Children Education and development the voluntary service in Cracow” European Volunteer Service

Date and place: 2007-2008, Krakow, Poland (number of volunteers 1)   

Description of the Activity: The volunteer works with children and young people in ALF Club and helps teachers and care takers in this organisation. The volunteer is participating in meetings were she is presenting Armenia, talking about customs, organizing some typical Armenian.

  •   “Participatory Planning and Youth Development”  TC

Date and place: 18-25 November 2007, Târgu Jiu, Romania

Description of the Activity: The TC aims at developing leadership and facilitation skills to conduct participatory planning programs for youth development in local communities.
Participatory Planning is an exceptional managerial tool to be used for development.

  • “Bridges of cooperation. Let’s make it together” Feasibility Visit

Date and place: 07-10 January 2008, Kiev, Ukraine

Description of the Activity: The aim of the Feasibility Visit was to establish new contacts between Programme and Partner countries and to develop common projects and to develop future cooperation in frame of Youth in Action. 

Role of WIYU: WIYU was presented by 2 NGO members

  • “Youth project managements : a tool for Social Integration” TC

Date and place: 22 February-01 March 2008, Yerevan, Armenia 

Description of the Activity: The aim of the TC was to give opportunities to the participants to share their experiences gain knowledge about youth project management. To find tools that helps the involvement of local and regional NGOs to develop themselves in organizing youth exchanges and to make EVS.

Role of WIYU: WIYU in cooperation with West Lothian Youth Theatre (UK) and Richter Foundation (The Netherlands) prepared and hosted the TC for 15 young people from 11 countries.   

  • “Youth against trafficking” TC

Date and place: 19-29 April 2008, Chisinau, Moldova

Description of the Activity: The aim of the TC was to make new contacts and establish network between youth organizations and youth trafficking prevention centers. Develop the possibility for cooperate in frame of innovative projects and to provide non-formal learning opportunities for young people

  • “Youth leisure at JUNIOR” European Volunteer Service

Date and place: 2008-2009 Banská Bystrica, Slovakia (number of volunteers 1)   

Description of the Activity: The volunteer’s tasks are:

  • To support the NGO staff in NGO everyday life
  • To provide English classes for children and youth
  • To organize camps for local youth

Role of WIYU: WIYU in cooperation with Centrum voľného času JUNIOR (Slovakia) sent one EVS volunteer

  • “Feels like home” Youth Exchange

Date and place: 20-30 July 2008, Prague, Czech Republic

Description of the Activity: “Feels like home” was a project aiming to promote interactions and dialogue between different people and cultures through art and creativity, in the specific case through films.

Role of WIYU: WIYU was represented in YE by 5 members

  • “Samegrelo” Youth Exchange

Date and place: 05-15 July 2008, Zugdidi, Georgia

Description of the Activity: The project had an aim to foster mutual understanding between young people in different countries and to promot European cooperation in the youth filed.

  • “Participation and Leadership” TC

Date and place: 29 July-04 August 2008, Luakert, Armenia 

Description of the Activity: The aim of the TC was to train and empower minority youth leaders, to develop community strategies based on participation, intercultural dialog and human rights.

Role of WIYU: WIYU with financial assistance OSCE was initiator and implementer of the TC.

  • “Study Visit in Armenia” Study Visit

Date and place: 21-30 August 2008, Luakert, Armenia 

Description of the Activity: The participants of the Study Visit had a chance to know better youth filed in Armenia. To get in contact with youth NGOs working not only in Yerevan but also in Gyumri and Vanadzor.

  • “Different Religions, Common Values” Youth Exchange

Date and place: 13-22 September 2008, Lusakert, Armenia

Description of the Activity: The participants met and discussed topics related to different religions (Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Judaism etc). The activities organized during the YE (cultural visits, simulation and role games, workshops, discussions, presentations) gave a possibilities to find similarities and differences not only in conceptual questions but also in such things as religious holidays, different approaches to fasts in different religions and religious symbols.

Role of WIYU: WIYU in cooperation with Minorities of Europe (UK) hosted Youth Exchange for 30 participants from UK, Estonia, Romania, Armenia, Georgia and Ukraine.

  • “Boosting student life in Luxemburg” European Volunteer Service

Date and place: 2008-2009 Luxemburg city, Luxemburg (number of volunteers 1)   

Description of the Activity: The volunteer’s tasks are:

  • To know needs and desires of students regarding lodging, jobs, internships and to find together answers to them
  • To monitor application of EU-law regarding all students and eventual discrimination situations of non-EU students
  • To energize existing proposals from
    • solidarity, human rights, environmental initiatives from different NGOs
    • other student structures as african student club
    • To enlarge these initiatives by starting new opportunities, scientific discussion circles, social volunteering experiences, sharing groups, community building seminars,

  • “EVS in Magdeburg” European Volunteer Service

Date and place: 2008-2009 Magdeburg, Germany (number of volunteers 1)   

Description of the Activity: The volunteer’s tasks are:

  • To developing ideas, Public relations
  • To contact and communicate with partner organizations and cooperating institutions
  • Accomplishment of education activities
  • To take care of participants,
  • To organize and accommodate the guests in the context of activities
  • To participate in team meetings and staff meetings

Role of WIYU: WIYU in cooperation with Friedenskreis Halle e.V. sent one EVS volunteer

  • “Gender roles through the time” Youth Exchange

Date and place: 15-21 October 2008, Tartu, Estonia

Description of the Activity: The content of the project was to get to know more about the gender roles in different countries through the history. The project was concentrated to Estonia and Armenia. Young people can use their creative thinking in several activities and also they can get to know and hear about the genders. They had a chance to think over and express their thoughts and understandings about the gender roles in general and in private level – do we feel somehow restricted or preferred because of these roles.

Role of WIYU: WIYU was co-organizer of the Youth Exchange and was represented in the project by 12 members. 

  • “Partners’ meeting in Sete” Meeting  

Date and place: 16-20 October 2008, Sete, France 

Description of the Activity: The aim of the meeting was to evaluate common projects done during the year and to plane new projects and find ways for cooperation for net year. 

Role of WIYU: 2 members of WIYU were participating in the meeting.

  • “Nonviolent creative defense of human rights” TC

Date and place: 05-14 March 2009, Palermo, Italy

Description of the Activity: The aim of the project was to aware youth and the local community about nonviolence and human rights. To aware youth for active citizenship, mainly at human rights level and to develop new creative strategies to defend the human rights in a nonviolent way.

Role of WIYU: WIYU was represented in the project by 1 member.

  • “Armenia and Spain for transregional youth cooperation” Job Shadowing  

Date and place: 01-15 April 2009, Avilés, Spain  

Description of the Activity: Within this project the representatives of the WIYU NGO, visited “Servicio de Juventud de Ayuntamiento de Avilés” learn more about the activities, working conditions and methods through dialogues and active participation. The aim of the project was to get to know each other in order to start a partnership in the field of the local project management, as well as future activities within other Youth in Action opportunities, that is Youth Exchanges and Training Courses focusing on Peace Building, Intercultural Dialogue, Social Cohesion and Inclusion.

Role of WIYU: 2 representatives of WIYU NGO were involved in the project. 

“Making EVS and Youth exchange for all” TC  

Date and place: 11-18 May 2009, Comrat, Moldova   

Description of the Activity: The aim of the TC was to develop the skills and knowledge of organizations who work in the field of youth mobility and to stimulate the exchange of good practices and experience in order to increase the quality of youth mobility projects. Also it aims to spread knowledge to partners in the East Europe and Caucasus region thus strengthening their capacity to use the Youth in Action programme effectively and successfully.

Role of WIYU: WIYU NGO was presented in the TC by 2 representatives of the organization.

  • “Gender roles through the time” TC

Date and place: 22-28 July 2009, Sevan, Armenia   

Description of the Activity: The aim of the project was to increase knowledge and understanding between different cultures with a special focus on gender issues and participation. Participants had the opportunity to exchange ideas about practice and create new working methods that will be applicable for working with the groups of young people within the cultural context of their own countries. The main activities of the project were workshops, familiarisation with cultures of the participant countries (prioritising gender and the different aspects of gender roles), thematic film evenings and familiarisation with the approaches and activities of The “Gender Game Zoom In Zoom Out” (This is a board Game, designed to raise the awareness about the issues of gender equality around the world in deferent cultures. The “gender game” project lies under the umbrella of “youth information” activities supported by the Youth Programme in the “Euro-med youth programme”).

Role of WIYU: WIYU in cooperation with Active Learning Center (UK) hosted Training Course for 20 participants from countries from EU and EECA region.

  • “The creative form of building the ecological awareness” Youth Exchange  

Date and place: 15-22 August 2009, Berlin, Germany  

Description of the Activity: During this project young people approached the subject of environment’s protection. During the project art was used as a form of message transmitter reinforcing society’s awareness as for the ecology. Art workshops (templates, jeweler, installation/happening) were accompanied not only by discussions on ecology, but also by disputes about the young people’s role in their closest environment, in Europe and in the world in general. Apart from the work connected with the main subject were conducted activities supporting the group processes, the accumulation of the knowledge concerning the culture of the participants’ countries and the communication between participants.

Role of WIYU: 7 representatives of WIYU NGO were involved in the project. 

  • “Contrast” Youth Exchange  

Date and place: 03-13 September 2009, Sevan, Armenia   

Description of the Activity: “Contrasts” was a multilateral 10 day YE in Armenia. 28 participants (including team leaders) from EU (Germany, France) and from EECA (Armenia, Ukraine) used the camera as a tool to observe a cultural setting, to discover particularities and to get familiar with their implications. It aimed to foster the consciousness for the participants own perception in relation to others and the building of common grounds. At the end was realized exhibition of the photos done by the participants that presented the diversity of young Europeans points of view and how they related to each other in common agreement towards the local public.

Role of WIYU: WIYU in cooperation with BDP (Germany) hosted Youth Exchange in Armenia.

  • “Exchanging Capacities” Job Shadowing  

Date and place: 17-27 September 2009, Coventry, UK 

Description of the Activity: The job shadowing gave the representative of WIYU NGO an opportunity to see how Minorities of Europe (MoE) is working with the national minorities in UK, what kind of projects the organization is realizing on the theme of the intercultural learning and integration of national minorities in local society. The representative of WIYU learned more about the activities, working conditions and methods of MoE and this supported her for realization of a wider set of projects on national level which aimed to visualize the “presence” of the youth from national minorities living in Armenia.

Role of WIYU: 1 representatives of WIYU NGO visited the partner organization MoE in UK. 

  • “Partners’ meeting in Sete” Meeting  

Date and place: 14-18 October 2009, Sete, France 

Description of the Activity: The aim of the meeting was to evaluate common projects done during the year and to plane new projects and find ways for cooperation for net year. 

Role of WIYU: 2 members of WIYU were participating in the meeting.

  • “Exploring Armenia – Guide for Better EVS” European Volunteer Service

Date and place: 2009-2010 Yerevan, Armenia (number of volunteers 1)  

Description of the Activity: The volunteer’s tasks were:

During the project the volunteer worked both directly in WIYU NGO and in art center with children with autism from 5 to 13 years old.

In WIYU NGO the main responsibilities of the volunteer was work on the handbook for EVS volunteers who are going to realize their projects in Armenia. At the end of the project was developed and published the final result of the project.

In the art center the volunteer was helping stuff in work with children with autism during painting and pottery classes. 

Role of WIYU: WIYU was hosting volunteer that was sent by Association “Free Learning Centre” from Vilnius, Lithuania.

  • “Nrani-1” European Volunteer Service

Date and place: 2009-2010 Yerevan, Armenia (number of volunteers 1)  

Description of the Activity: The volunteer’s tasks were:

The volunteer was involved in work in Nrani NGO with children with special needs from 3 to 7 years old.

The overall aim of the project was to help children to integrate into the society (especially in school) by giving them essential knowledge and by developing their social skills.

The volunteer’s main responsibilities were:

  • help with babysitting during sessions with parents (either one by one and group consulting) or other events;
  • accompany children to different places;
  • home visiting;
  • assisting in preparation, organizing and participating in cultural projects, going with children to different trips (like spending together weekends)
  • participating together with children in municipal and national entertainment events and etc.
  • helping in keeping the cleanness in the children’s room;

Role of WIYU: WIYU was hosting volunteer that was sent by Association “Strim” from Krakow, Poland.

  • “THEATRE AS A TOOL IN NON-FORMAL EDUCATION” PBA

Date and place: 18-23 April 2010 Rezekne, Latvia

Description of the Activity: The main objectives of the activity were

  • to create partnership and build new contacts between NGO working in the field of European youth projects;
  • to provide an opportunity to develop new skills and competences, as well as reinforcing existing ones;
  • to inspire fascination and willingness to explore new theatre working methods especially in intercultural projects.

Role of WIYU: 1 participant from WIYU was participating the PBA.

  • “Let’s talk about dialogue” PBA

Date and place: 01-05 May 2010 Silesia, Poland

Description of the Activity: The main aim of the project was to connect youth NGOs from European Union member countries, Eastern Europe and Caucasus and South Eastern Europe. By PBA the organizers intend to collect partners together with whom will be defined problems and issues connected with current political and historical status of Europe (in its wide meaning) and her neighbors and based on the partnership develop long term cooperation programmes in frame of Youth in Action (YiA). 

Role of WIYU: 1 participant from WIYU was participating the PBA.

  • “Discover the Beauty inside ourselves” YE

Date and place: 28 May-06 June 2010 Soroca, Moldova

Description of the Activity: The project “Discover the Beauty inside Yourself” intended to analyze the youth problems at the present, suggesting an alternative for their implication in the community life, namely through the art.

Discussions on various themes with youngsters of the group, the workshops on artistic creation (theatre, decorative art, dance, music) and encounters with other youngsters from other European countries led to the conception and creation of an art exhibition, each of the young persons making his/her own contribution to its implementation, thus proving the possibility to practice participation through the art.

Role of WIYU: 6 representatives of WIYU NGO were involved in the project

  • “Peer education approach for trafficking prevention” TC

Date and place: 13-21 June 2010 Palermo, Italy 

Description of the Activity: The aim of the TC was to teach young people and youth workers to become peer educators in trafficking prevention and awareness-raising, and to fight against discrimination that people trafficked suffer in the countries of destination. The TC included a theoretical part introducing concepts as trafficking, differences with other phenomena like smuggling or prostitution, peer education, Human Rights, gender, countries of origin, transit and destination of trafficking and internal trafficking, etc.

Role of WIYU: 2 participants from WIYU participated in the TC

  • “Inclusion in Action” YE

Date and place: 25-31 August 2010 Lusakert, Armenia 

Description of the Activity: “Inclusion in Action” was 6 day Youth Exchange in Armenia. 24 participants from Spain and from Armenia used the music, dances and theater as a tool to observe a culture of youth coexistence of people with and without special needs. It aims to foster the consciousness for the participants’ own perception in relation to others, especially if they are different than others, and the building of common grounds based on that difference. It lead to a performance that presented the diversities of possibilities and views and how they can be related to each other in common agreement towards the public.

Role of WIYU: WIYU in cooperation with Spanish NGO En Construcción hosted the YE in Armenia

  • “Do you wanna play? Games of Democracy & Participation” YE

Date and place: 20-26 September 2010 Tsakhadzor, Armenia 

Description of the Activity: Do you wanna play? Games of Democracy & Participation” was a multilateral Youth Exchange the theme of which was democracy, active participation and citizenship, personal development and group development through democratic games and Adventure Education. The participants discussed also topics related to cultures of participant countries.

The aim of the project was to make every teenager take responsibility for a better future for themselves and for the society as a whole. As well as to work with active engagement for the young people to make a difference in order to prevent problems as school drop-outs and youth unemployment.

Role of WIYU: WIYU in cooperation with Swedish NGO KEKS hosted 40 young people from 4 countries.

  • “Get me Involved” TC

Date and place: 17-23 October 2010 Tartu, Estonia 

Description of the Activity: The main aim of the course was to empower the role of youth associations in the involvement of minority youth in the social life, making them active participants in their civil society, and improve the culture of diversity in the hosting societies. youth workers, coming from different realities, such as EU countries, South Eastern Europe and Eastern Europe and Caucasus, shared their best practices, difficulties and obstacles, tips and points of view about the topic of social inclusion of youngsters coming from different kinds of minorities.

Role of WIYU: WIYU NGO was presented in the TC by 3 representatives of the organization.
